Regional Transportation

The Council works closely with the First Coast Metropolitan Planning Organization, Florida Department of Transportation, Jacksonville Port Authority, Jacksonville Transportation Authority, local governments, and the private sector to ensure an efficient, well-planned regional transportation system. It also holds forums on traffic issues and concerns.

The region seeks a transportation system that meets the travel needs of its population, facilitates the movement of goods, and contributes to the economic well-being of the region while maintaining the environmental quality. The impacts to land use and emergency evacuation planning are also considered in transportation planning decisions.
The Council also serves as the Designated Official Planning Agency for the Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) program in six of its seven counties.
